"The music on the album is based on life’s little quandaries that many people can relate to." ~Anthony Suriano

zukaj.JPG (17404 bytes)Hailing from Northwest New Jersey, Zuka began in 1994 with founding member Anthony Suriano writing and recording demo material that would eventually become "Supplemental Restraints". With original guitarist / co-writer Buddy Foltyn, they began to shop their material throughout the East Coast. By the spring of 1995 Zuka found themselves ready to sign a 3 record artist development deal with ASi Music (Artist’s Serenity Intervention), a regional independent label and music publishing company affiliated with BMi. The groundwork for "Supplemental Restraints" commenced in the spring of 1996, as the band entered the studio with engineer Brian Fitzgerald. Nearly a full year in the making, "Supplemental Restraints" was released regionally throughout the East Coast on April 30, 1997.

After its release, "Supplemental Restraints" quickly made it to the airwaves of over 15 college stations throughout the tri-state area including multiple features on commercial radio at WZZO, WDHA and WHTG. Singles included Faith on Fire, The Crush, and Precious Time. zukad.JPG (13479 bytes)

In the months that followed, Zuka performed at many area venues in support of their release including several premier performances to include: Rampage on the River Festival - a 3 day festival held in Barryville NY which features the top original artists in the tri-state area; MusikFest – Zuka was chosen to perform at this 8 day national music festival and held in Allentown PA, where nearly 1 million people attend annually; Allentown Fairgrounds - WZZO band contest finalist, selected from over 100 entries. This event was preceeded by a concert performance by the group "Boston".

zukajf.JPG (16051 bytes)During 1998, Zuka faced numerous challenges when several band members chose to part separate ways. Since then, the band has regrouped, signing on new members and immediately jumping back into the groove of rehearsing and writing new music. They will be heading into the studio by Spring of 1999 to begin recording their newest release with summer/fall promotional shows to follow.
